Acupuncture is an ancient form of medicine that uses sterile fine needles placed in recognized points in the body to help with pain relief, conditions such as paralysis, sore hip or knees by bringing blood circulation to that area. With its effect on circulation, it can also be very useful and effective in other disease processes that involve internal organs. The needles used are very thin and usually well received by both cats and dogs. There has been lots of research that supports the effectiveness of acupuncture in multiple conditions, and I have seen firsthand many animals improve their quality of life after treatment. I received my certification through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society.
